Advice for first time use

From the selection of the thread to the quality of the weaving, all our cotton, flax and cotton flax mix fabrics are tested to make sure that we provide you with a product of the highest quality.

A quality product still needs some looking after once you get it home. Here are some handy tips that will help you get the most from your cloth.

3 KEY POINTS, to help you keep your cloth looking great.
  • Before use, machine-wash your cloth on a long cold cycle without detergent.

  • Machine wash using a mild detergent, which does not contain aggressive whitening ingredients.

  • We advise the use of a stain-remover on very stubborn stains before machine washing.

Cleaning and care

  • For perfect whites
Do not wash at more than 60C.
All coloured stripes on white cloth and coloured belts on bath robes are guaranteed not to bleed, however take care to avoid washing using whitening products as this can affect dyes and pigments causing them to taint the white cloth.
Ideally we advise you to wash white products individually, to avoid mixing whites and colours.

  • For vivid colours
Do not wash at more than 60C.
Dry as normal, but avoid prolonged exposure of coloured fabrics to direct sunlight.

  • For soft and gentle bathroom linen
Make a habit of washing your new towels and bathrobes in a long cold wash without detergent before use.

Suggestions
Spray you bathroom linen with relaxing lavender or zesty lime scents.
Place small perfumed sachets of dried lavender, pine scent or cedar oil in drawers where you store towels and bathrobes, or even hang a small scented bag in your wardrobe.

Ironing advice

JEAN -VIER textiles should be ironed with a hot iron suitable for natural fibres. A hot iron avoids watermarks appearing on the fabric when dry.
  • To achieve a perfectly "crease free" result use a water spray to dampen the material before ironing.

  • To make life a little easier we have introduced an anti stain technology known as "easy care" which can be identified by the label T.E.C.
Ils bénéficient du traitement easy care (T.E.C.) et offrent une qualité de repassage exceptionnelle.
As well as protecting the fabric from staining, other benefits include making ironing so much easier as the material is exceptionally smooth and soft to the touch.
T.E.C is only available on our ESPELETTE range of products: table cloths, table sets, double sets and cushions.

  • All JEAN-VIER products are clearly labelled with care advice. It should be mentioned that the iron symbol represents a hot iron.

Choose the right size cloth for your table.

Additional information:
All fabrics made of natural fibres (cotton, flax or flax / cotton mix fabrics) are prone to shrinkage of between 5 and 8%.
All products benefiting from anti stain technology or T.E.C have the advantage of resisting shrinkage. However this technology is currently only available on our Espelette range of products, tablecloths, table sets, double sets and cushions.
